combined with strict discipline of colour are partly explained by the artist’s
concerns on the subject matter, and partly by his architectural education. Valery’s
background as an artist is not at all traditional. He studied
architecture and spent a number of years designing, teaching and researching.
With no formal art school training, at the age of twenty-eight, he began
to paint in whatever free time was available. His
artistic career has been launched in 1992 after a successful exhibition of
graphic works in Amsterdam, where he then worked as an architect for Alberts
& Van Huut, one of the leading Organic Style design practices in Europe.
That first public exposure led to the invitations from three more galleries to
show his work. Since then he
exhibits regularly throughout Europe, most recently in Belgium, Greece, Russia,
United Kingdom, as well as USA. After
moving to London in 1996 Valery has held several shows in London galleries
including Roy Miles, Albermarle, The Mall Galleries, Westminster Gallery, and
the BOC Covent Garden Festival. Valery’s
work has been featured at the prestigious Classic FM Festival aux Quat’Saisons,
where his paintings accompanied the performances of some of the most creative
classical musicians of our time: Emma Johnson, the Sorrel Quartet and Julian
Lloyd Webber. He
was also among the first young London artists to be featured in the prestigious
Getty Images, Seattle, launched in 2000 as the largest web site for fine art
images in the world. Valery
Koroshilov’s work can be found in many private and public collections
worldwide including University College London, International School of
Amsterdam, Dionysious Frescoes Museum in Russia, the Medici Group in Brugge,
Castle Aertrycke in Gent, Baker Tilly Group UK,
and others. Images of Valery’s paintings are included into the BritArt Directory 2001, and most recently have been featured in the Sunday Times Style article, April 2003. Selection of paintings for the Garden of Eden Gallery’s solo-exhibition shows some of the latest work of the artist, produced in the last two years and most of it has never been exhibited before.
